Post Summer Blues

Well, first time I've had the chance to write a blog post since the summer holiday. Don't get me wrong the holiday was great, especially as I was able to sleep in many, many days in a row. That is such a blessing.

However, then we come to what did not get done over the holiday. Primarily the career but also a far amount of house and garden work, which means that I have been playing catch up ever since the Infant Distraction went back to school. I really need to unearth my spuds but until I have some where to dump the dirty that isn't happening. Not great.

So as you can imagine, the career has once again wound up as bottom of the heap because i have noticed this about having a work at home career, everyone assumes that you can just squeeze it in whenever.  You know, after all the child care, housework, gardening, socializing, helping with homeworking, all that good stuff, is done. Well I hate to break it to people but when the evening rolls round, after putting in a 6.00am to 9.30pm day I struggle to right my diary let alone do any artwork or string together a fiction sentence.

Hats off to the Manga artists who are working 21 hour days so they can churn out a volume each week. I have nothing but the greatest admiration for them and the greatest disgust at their managers and producers. Anyone with half a brain cell should be able to understand that making someone work like this for a decade or more is only going to result in some very nasty mental and physical health problems. My guess is that the only reason that none of those artists have wound up 'going postal' is firstly because the culture of submitment to authority is too strong to break, even on a personal level and also because most Asian countries have very strict gun control laws. Come to think of it I think that there is only one First World Country that doesn't have strict gun control laws. No prizes for guessing which one but that is a tangent so back to the business in hand.

I have finally managed to wade my way through at least some of the jobs, including the 379 emails from facebook (I didn't laugh I'd cry), which means I am finally free to use Friday for what it was intended - a work on my career day. I will admit that I have been far more distractable today than I should have been, I can only guess that my subconscious doesn't believe that I can be allowed a day to work on what I wish to work on after nearly seven  years of it being denied. Despite that hiccup, I have managed to knuckle down and make a start.

That start was working on electronically editing my paintings so that I can hopefully upload them to Tee-springs. YES! The idea is that I am going to launch a Tee-springs store later in the year, preferably before Christmas so if anyone is still struggling for gift ideas they can check it out. Watch this SPACE people!

I have also managed to, obviously, come up with a blog post that is fairly upbeat and positive so life hasn't ground me quite so small this month. I am also hoping to squeeze in another art lesson video today so once again, big thank yous go to Art for Kids Hub. Their videos are worth a watch particularly if, like me, you are into drawing your creature features. And I've just remembered that I am  supposed to be doing a gift (I would call it a commission but since the commissioner is myself I guess I can't) so I also need to make time for that. No rest for the wicked, I just wonder what I did wrong.

Still, before I distract myself again, I will sign off and crack on. Good luck people in whatever you are doing and be safe.
