Stage Fright

For those of you who don't know, I'm a member of the Great Ellingham Pretenders and I'm the Magic Mirror in this years production of 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'.  Seeing as it is my first major role I have had lots of mixed feelings about it all - happy, nervous, full of beans and scared to hell.

Add to this the fact that there were doubts about whether or not we were even going to have a Recreation Centre to perform in and this production has never looked certain.  Apparently someone fell over due to a toy the play group had left out so Health and Safety came swarming down all over the building.  The Great Ellingham Recreation Centre has a purpose built stage but it is tiny so for years the Pretenders have been extending it for their productions with a temporary stage added on.  That is fine, according the Health and Safety.  What is not fine is the fact that there is a drop of less than a household step between the two, therefore someone could trip over and hurt themselves.  The fact that such an event has not occurred in the years that the Great Ellingham Pretenders have been performing does not count, even though one of those performances involved a young girl in a sleeping bag jumping up and down that step (she was acting the part of a caterpillar).  I some times feel that we all ought to live our lives wrapped up in cotton wool as far as Health and Safety are concerned.

Any way the Pretenders have bought a new extension stage so Health and Safety have finally been placated so the show is going on.

If any one would like to come along and see me perform than it is:
